Who I Run To

shame crumbles and fear runs.

I fall at your feet

lay down what weighs heavy on me.

With hands lifted

and heart open

Lord you are who I run to.
I'll stand broken before you

all things unrestricted,

finding freedom in your embrace;

filled with hope,
once again.

War is raging inside me

and I'm gasping for breathe
You rush in...
Speak life into me again.
Peace.
Your presence is my peace...

Commander of the armies of heaven!

Life is hard. Things don't always go the way we want them to. 

Circumstances change, people change, our day to day changes and the change isn't always "for the better." At least not from our limited perspective. We can choose to lay down and let life run us over, or we can run to the one who works all things for our good. (read Romans 8:28) 

I have a long way to go, I don't know everything. What I do know, probably better than anything else, is a father's love, God's love. When things feel like they are spinning out of control around me I know I can cry out to God and its like I can feel the world stop as he holds me. He overwhelms me with his presence and fills me with a peace that only he can give. He's rescued me from myself and all I

can do is thank him for his unending grace, because I don't deserve it, but he gives it to me anyway.

I know my heart is held safely in his grasp and I don't need to take it back nor do I want to. There's no safer place for it. Who do you run to? I hope you know how sweet it is to dwell in the shelter of God's love for you. And if you don't know, I hope that you will start seek him. It'll be the purest, most fierce love you will ever encounter.
